Another Reason why I Avoid GMO Frankenfood

Uh oh, these corn chips touted as healthy contain frankenfood GMO and pesticide too.

Bad news: Frito-Lays SunChips have just tested positive for weed killer and GMO ingredients. The chips are marketed as a ‘healthy’ alternative to regular chips as a means to lessen the chance of developing heart disease, but if your dining on Round Up (glyphosate residues) and GM Bt toxins found in most genetically modified corn, then ‘healthy’ as Frito-Lay defines it takes on a new meaning.
Samples were sent to a lab by GmoFreeUSA.org. They used quantitative PCR test verification by DNA analysis only to find that 100% of the chips contained DNA sequences known to be present in insecticide-producing Bt and Roundup Ready corn, as well as traces of the active ingredient known as glyphostae, used in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide, Round Up.

Why I Avoid White Table Salt

"Most salts labeled “sea salt” are refined salts. How do you tell? You have to look at the color of the salt. If it has some color to it (other than white), it is probably unrefined.

White salt is actually a slow-acting poison for it is not complete; it is not as nature intended so it will cause problems and wreak havoc in one’s health."

Here is an excerpt from an excellent article by Dr. Mark Sircus.  I personally only eat Himalayan seal salt (which is unrefined and pink in color) or Redmond salt.  Both contain dozens of trace minerals. I avoid white salt, which has been bleached, denatured, and may contain aluminum as an anti caking agent.

Table Salt – Poison Salt

Let’s consider the qualities of commercially available table salt. It is obvious in the above Brazilian study that no attention was paid to the dangerous and damaging effects that the salt itself might be having on the population. It is possible that the salt, not the iodine, led to increases in the prevalence of CAT and hypothyroidism in subjects genetically predisposed to thyroid autoimmune diseases. After all, refined salt is highly-processed—bleached, filtered, and stripped of other naturally occurring trace minerals. After this processing, chemicals are added to keep the salt from absorbing water and clumping up, and it is often iodized.

Dr. David Brownstein weighs in heavily on this matter saying, “Nobody makes a distinction between unrefined and refined salt. They ‘lump’ all salt together as a bad substance. This is a terrible mistake.

There are two forms of salt available in the market place: refined and unrefined. Refined salt has had its minerals removed and has been bleached to give it the white appearance that we are accustomed to seeing with salt. It is the fine, white salt that is available at almost any restaurant or grocery store. Refined salt has been bleached and exposed to many toxic chemicals in order to get it to its final product. It has aluminum, ferrocyanide, and bleach in it. I believe this refining process has made it a toxic, devitalized substance that needs to be avoided.”
image
“Unrefined salt, on the other hand,” Brownstein continues, “has not been put through a harsh chemical process. It contains the natural minerals that were originally part of the product. Its mineral content gives it a distinct color. The colors of unrefined salt can vary depending on where it is taken from. This is due to the changing mineral content of the various brands of salt. It is the minerals in unrefined salt that provide all the benefits of this product. The minerals supply the body with over 80 trace elements needed to maintain and sustain health. Furthermore, the minerals elevate the pH (correct acidity) and lower blood pressure. Our maker gave us salt to use in our diet—unrefined salt—with its full complement of minerals. It should be the salt of choice. It is a vital ingredient that needs to be part of everyone’s diet.”

All salt came from the ocean at one time, and like other elements from the sea such as magnesium chloride, there are varying degrees of purity as well as concentration. Just because a salt is labeled as sea salt does not mean that it is unrefined or that it is in any way better than “regular” table salt. Both sea salt (found in the grocery store) and table salt are practically 99.9 percent sodium chloride with virtually all the sea minerals processed out.

Most salts labeled “sea salt” are refined salts. How do you tell? You have to look at the color of the salt. If it has some color to it (other than white), it is probably unrefined.

White salt is actually a slow-acting poison for it is not complete; it is not as nature intended so it will cause problems and wreak havoc in one’s health.

Our bodies need only 250 mg of sodium each day in order to flush our cells, maintain a balance of fluid, regulate the circulatory system, and maintain normal nerve impulses. Sodium and chloride are essential to the body. Instead of getting only 250 mg per day, most people are consuming 4,000-10,000 mg per day in diet sodas, hamburgers, eggs, frozen dinners, bottled veggie juices (V8), and chips just to name a few. As well as being addictive and a cause of high blood pressure, table salt promotes diseases such obesity, hypertension, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, stroke, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, PMS, and manic-depression. Processed foods have very high levels of salt, and a diet high in salt actually leads to salt dependence by your body. This is why you crave salty foods—just like a smoker craves the nicotine in a cigarette.

Dr. Brownstein says, “Years ago salt manufacturers decided that pure white salt is prettier than off-white salt and that consumers prefer pretty white salt. So they started bleaching it. They also added anti-clumping agents to increase its shelf life. The problem is that the chemicals added to keep salt from absorbing moisture on the shelf interfere with one of salt’s main functions: to regulate hydration in your body. The sodium chloride in table salt is highly concentrated, denatured, and toxic to your body. Ever put salt on an open cut? It burns!!! Refined salt has the same effect on internal tissues and causes a negative reaction: your body retains water to protect itself, and your cells release water to help dilute, neutralize, and break down the salt. This loss of water dehydrates and weakens your cells and can even cause them to die prematurely.

Natural sea salt is far superior to chemically-treated iodized table salts as it contains all 92 trace minerals, and it’s only 84% sodium chloride while table salt is almost 98%.

All this adds up to one thing. Table salt, whether marine or not, is toxic—it’s poisonous to the body and is responsible, in great part, to the onset of many terrible diseases including thyroid and metabolic dysfunction.

Fifteen Healthy Eating Household Hints

"Hi, this is Roland. I have been looking at health and optimal living practices for a long time. When my son was little he had some issues, and so we began to read people like Dr. Henry Bieler, Dr. John Christopher, and Dr. Bircher Benner,  and we studied things like raw vs.cooked food.

We continued to be interested in health and healthy living, and as the years went by, we kept learning and we still are. Today I like Dr. Mercola, the Health Ranger, Dr. Weil, and Dr. Oz too.

Scroll down for the poster and for the Helpful Hints

I have always wanted to write something about healthy practices that is simple and understandable for people. I wanted to boil down to the essence of what I have learned over the years to share with people.

I know that most people are busy, and not everyone has the luxury of the time to study, read and research like I have. Also it gets confusing and sometimes people just don't know where to look.

So I finally sat down and made my Happy Home Healthy Living Guide. I kept it simple. I put it in the form of a small 11 X 17 poster, and made it easy to understand.

But there is a lot more I want to share, so I'm now starting Roland's Household Hints and Tips. I will put a brief sentence or two in the right sidebar and then link it to here.

So just scroll down to find it.

Homemakers, moms, dads, singles, and health conscious people everywhere - As my gift, you can read and download my Happy Home Healthy Living Guide.

It contains over 100 helpful hints about buying produce, filtering water, best types of pots and pans, and much more.

Hey, I know we are all busy. We want to eat the best and avoid iffy things, but no one has taken the time to tell you because they didn't know either. Now you can get my list and hang it up on the wall as a small poster.

Roland's Household Hints and Tips

Hint #1. Eat raw honey.

Did you know that the fruit juice and the honey you buy in the store (or get in a restaurant) has been heated?  I love honey, it is one of the most remarkable substances on the planet. It contains wonderful enzymes, minerals and all kinds of wonderful things. But I refuse to buy the heated type that you find on the shelves. Who knows what high heat does to it.  I only buy raw honey (one big supermarket I go to has it all the time)

I sweeten with honey and I take it when I'm not feeling well.

When I am at the computer for live chat early in the morning, do you know what I have in my thermos

Hot Lipton tea made with reverse osmosis filtered water (with no fluoride in it), and sweetened with raw honey!

Hint #2. Healthy food tastes good!

Hey Roland, what did you eat today?

I started the day with a few sips of filtered water with lemon juice in it.

I sat down to the computer to do some work and had 2 cups of black tea (made with filtered water) with 3 spoons of raw honey in it.
Then I had 2 slices of Trader Joe's organic wheat berry bread with butter, and a cup of Starbucks Christmas blend coffee with a little half and half in it.

When I was done at the computer, I had a bowl of oatmeal with a little brown sugar on it.

For lunch I had salad made with organic lettuce, organic tomatoes and avocado. And two bowls of home made oxtail soup. I sprinkled a little Himalayan sea salt on the salad.

For snacks I had 2 bananas and a few dates. And I drank filtered water with lemon juice in it.

For dinner I had a small organic hamburger, boiled cabbage, rice, stir fried greens, salad, and a small bowl of home made soup. I sprinkled lots of turmeric on the cabbage and also had a sprinkling of cayenne pepper. I also have a little black pepper to help the value of the curcumin in the turmeric.

After dinner I had 3 chewable papaya enzyme tablets to aid with digestion.

Hint #3   Why you should consider switching to PTFE free cookware

The link is to a wonderful article written by a lady who has done the research for you. Update: The green pans that she refers to are super non stick but have no teflon. They make cooking a breeze. We have had them for over a year now and they are just as good as new.  Caution: other pots and pans may look similar but have ptfe's in them

Get Green Pan for your family's health. Here's a tip-- they clean out very easily with a paper towel and a little baking soda and water. Amazing.

Be careful. Many pan makers are now hiding the name teflon because they know people are wary.

Update:  I am soooooo happy with my greenpans. I've had them for 2 years now. They are still in excellent condition. Cleaning them is a breeze too. Just use a little baking soda made into a paste and wipe with a paper towel.

Hint #4 I use pink Himalayan sea salt, and here's why.

Hint #5 Are you magnesium deficient? I use magnesium oil on my skin. Dr. Carolyn Dean wrote the book

Hint #6  I have learned to love brown rice. It contains the bran and germ and all the nutrients.  We all know that white bread is not good for us, but white rice is the equivalent of white bread!  Read the shocking history of white rice .

Hint #7   Use olive oil for salads and low temperature cooking. Use coconut oil or butter for higher temperature cooking. Wonder why? Read the story.

Hint #8  Buy oil in small amounts. Oil, especially when exposed to light (like on the store shelf) and air, oxidizes and starts to go rancid, with dangerous free radicals.

Here's a great informative article and a 5 minute interview by Dr. Mercola about what oil to cook with.

Hint #9  Microwaving alters your food. I heat my food in the oven or for smaller items in a toaster oven.

Hint #10  I love herbs. Here is a nice site I found by Susun Weed who seems to know a lot about herbs.

There is a special place in my heart for motherwort, which along with hawthorn, probably saved my life, and so I was happy to find this wonderful post about motherwort that Susun Weed wrote

Hint #11 I try to avoid GMO. Here is a video about GMO facts,  featuring world famous neurosurgeon Dr. Russel Blaylock

I also found out that most Vitamin C comes from genetically modified corn. I found a site that shows where you can order bulk Vitamin C that is not GMO.

Hint #12  I start off each day, while I'm getting up and dressed, with a glass of clean pure water with squeezed lemon in it. (double reverse osmosis filtered water, which I buy nearby at the health food store).

Hint #13 How to save yourself if you choke alone. Watch this 2 minute life saving video  please
Fireman Jeff Rehman show you how to dislodge something from your throat in this short 3 minute video. It could save your life.

Hint #14   Have you ever seen a PLU number on produce beginning with an 8? I haven't either. do you know why?  PLU beginning with an 8 is for Genetically Modified Organisms. Big agra knows that no one wants to buy frankenfood. So they hide their GMO in PLU's beginning with 3 and 4.

That's right. So not only is your average produce that begins with the usual PLU number 3 or 4 grown in depleted soil and laced with pesticides. But it very well may also be genetically modified organisms.

Grow your own or buy certified organic beginning with a number 9

Hint #15  Avoid plastic containers. Especially those with BPA. But other types of pastic are iffy too.

Use ceramic, stainless steel, and glass whenever possible. For water, use glass or stainless steel. I have a glass water bottle with a cool protective covering which I got at Walgreens. For home, we have a beautiful 3 gallon glass container with a tap on it. It is designed to use for an elegant party, but we use it all the time!

My Son Was Vaccine Injured

My son was and is vaccine injured. That is why I want everyone to have both sides of the vaccine issue.

Vaccines are one of the most controversial medical therapies, and it’s impossible to make an informed decision unless you know both sides of the story

A quote from Dr. Mercola

"Vaccines are one of the most controversial medical therapies, and it’s impossible to make an informed decision unless you know both sides of the story. In the process of knowing both sides, the historical context is critical.
Dr. Suzanne Humphries, author of Dissolving Illusions: Disease, Vaccines, and the Forgotten History,1 is a nephrologist who has committed the latter part of her medical career to exposing the “lost history” of vaccinations.

Barbara Loe Fisher of NVIC commented that this is one of the rare books that conducted in-depth research documenting the medical history related to mass vaccination programs and infectious diseases.

I have read the book from cover to cover and would strongly recommend that you pick up a copy if you have even the remotest interest in this topic, especially if you believe in the safety and necessity of vaccines, as the comprehensive documentation will likely cause you to reevaluate your position.
It is an absolutely fascinating read, and in some ways demonstrates that enforcement of vaccine programs could be far worse today, when compared to historical standards when people were imprisoned and even killed when they refused to comply.

I will likely reread the book again so I can be well armed to articulately express my concerns on why one needs to have serious reservations on the validity of vaccines, based on historical precedents."

end of quote from Dr. Mercola

My son is vaccine injured.  He has suffered his whole life because of the routine vaccines we took him to the pediatrician to get when he was small.

I have studied the vaccines for years, and I agree with Dr. Mercola that you cannot make an informed decision without knowing both sides.

I am especially concerned with brain inflammation as a result of vaccination. I am also concerned about hypoxic ischemia--low blood flow and low oxygen transport to areas of the brain as a result of the inflammation brought about by the vaccine.

The vaccine ingredients cross the blood brain barrier, especially in small children whose immune system is not fully formed, entering the blood stream in the brain. Then you can have brain inflammation. The there is swelling and a rush of white blood cells to the area.

In other words,  it is my opinion that the large number of white blood cells that rush to the inflammation congest in the brain inflammation areas clog the small capillaries feeding the brain and the result is low blood flow and low oxygen, damaging the developing brain..

Why are there are so many learning disabilities and other issues nowadays, more than ever before. My own son was injured and suffered greatly and continues to suffer the damage and its consequences..

A friend of mine told me his new grandson was born at the hospital but things were not going well. Upon birth, the baby was immediately administered a hepatitis B vaccine. The child developed brain seizures with a very sad result. Here is a similar sad case I saw on the internet

You need to be informed so you can make an informed decision.

The video where Dr. Mercola interviews Dr. Suzanne Humphries about the history of vaccines is a good start. It is a short video but riveting and informative. Here is the link to watch it

Famed Legendary Health Advocate Andreas Moritz on Microwaves

Watch legendary health advocate Andreas Moritz describe:

what happens to a plant when watered with microwaved water

how microwaved food made the German soldiers sick
What microwaving actually does to food.

I personally would not touch microwaved food with a ten foot pole.

I personally avoid microwaved food. Microwaving destroys the nutrients. Yesterday I was reading about garlic, and the author said that microwaving absolutely destroys the healing nutrients in garlic.

Vitamin Sunshine

Most people are way low on vitamin D.  Fortunately it is easy to solve. Our skin makes vitamin D when when exposed to the sun.

So, sunshine in the summer being careful not to burn, of course, is the natural way. But what if you work indoors all the time or what if it is winter when the sun is usually not strong enough. You will have to supplement.

Fortunately vitamin D is cheap. The vitamin D Council puts out lots of info and guidelines for taking vitamin D.

I have been taking 5000 units a day. I was taking 2000, and then based on doctor's recommendation I increased to 5000 units.

So check out the Vitamin D Council guidelines and get enough vitamin D, especially in the flu season.

Here are two excellent articles with a fun video too -

Magnesium for Heart Health, Sleeping Soundly and Much More

Most people are deficient in magnesium. This is unfortunate because it is so important for heart health. One of the first things many hospitals will do for someone who comes in with a heart attack is begin intravenous magnesium.

It is calming, good for the heart, and helps a person go to sleep too. It's the perfect thing for anyone stressed out or with aching muscles.

The problem with magnesium supplements is that they may not be readily absorbed by the body.

The solution for me has been magnesium oil. I rub it on the skin, like my chest or tummy, and the magnesium is absorbed through the skin. The other nice thing about magnesium oil is that it feels so good and is so good for the skin.

You can rub it on anywhere--legs, ankles, feet, arms, neck. You get both the benefit of the magnesium absorbed for the heart, and you get a nice soothing rub for the muscles. If you have a sore muscle somewhere, just rub some magnesium oil on it. It makes the skin smooth too.

The picture to the right shows the magnesium oil that I use. It is Life Flo brand and I get it in Berkeley. It is very cheap. A ten dollar bottle lasts for months

I love magnesium oil. It feels good and that way I know it is going to be usable for the body. I also like having it around in case I get a strained muscle--it is soothing to muscles and helps with cramps.

"Magnesium is an essential mineral used for hundreds of biochemical reactions, making it crucial for health. Massive magnesium deficiencies in the general population have led to a tidal wave of sudden coronary deaths, diabetes, strokes and cancer. Even a mild deficiency of magnesium can cause increased sensitivity to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, and insomnia.

The modern diet, with an overabundance of refined grains, processed foods and sugars, contains very little magnesium. Even the magnesium inside whole grains and fresh vegetables has been declining steadily in recent years because of depletion of minerals in our soils, making magnesium supplementation necessary for most people. Dr. Sircus recommends the use of transdermal magnesium chloride (transdermal means through the skin)  as the most effective way to improve your magnesium levels quickly."

(NaturalNews) Poor dietary habits, pharmaceutical drug use, and nutrient-depleted growing soils are among the most common reasons why many people today are dangerously deficient in the mineral magnesium, a necessary nutrient for the proper function of virtually all systems of the body. The good news, though, is that incorporating more magnesium into your diet does not have to be an burdensome chore, and doing so could drastically improve your health in ways you never before imagined.

As it turns out, magnesium deficiency is linked to causing all sorts of chronic health problems that, if left unaddressed, will eventually lead to even more serious health problems down the road. This is why it is important to eat plenty of magnesium-rich foods and take high-quality magnesium supplements regularly for optimal health. Here are six ways that magnesium can improve your health:

Since magnesium is required by the body to properly digest foods, supplementing with it can help 1) alleviate gastrointestinal discomfort and disease. Magnesium acts as a coenzyme in the digestive tract, which means it helps break down food and assimilate nutrients into your body. Magnesium also aids in the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, as well as triggers the healthy production of bile in your liver.

The fourth most abundant mineral in the body, magnesium is utilized as part of more than 300 essential metabolic reactions, one of which involves 2) regulating healthy blood sugar levels. Magnesium deficiency is directly linked to causing insulin resistance, which in turn can lead to diabetes and other chronic health conditions.

Magnesium is also necessary for 3) maintaining a healthy heart, as the mineral aids in the proper transport of potassium, calcium, and other nutrient ions across cell membranes. According to a 2006 study published in the journal Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease, these nutrients help promote healthy nerve impulses, muscle contraction, and normal heart rhythm.

The mainstream media is constantly talking about the importance of calcium for maintaining healthy bones, but a much more important mineral for 4) nurturing healthy bones is magnesium. In fact, roughly half of your body's magnesium supply is stored in your bones, and magnesium also acts as a co-factor with both calcium and vitamin D to maintain and strengthen your bone structure.

Because of its strong elimination potential, magnesium is considered a 5) powerful detoxifier as well, especially since your body's "master antioxidant," glutathione, requires magnesium in order to function properly. Heavy metals, environmental chemicals, pesticides and herbicides, and various other toxins are greatly inhibited from taking hold inside the body when magnesium is present.

Cancer rates have risen dramatically throughout the past century, and are expected to nearly double within the next few decades. But maintaining healthy magnesium levels in your body can 6) greatly decrease your risk of developing cancer. A study recently published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that for every 100-milligram (mg) increase in magnesium intake, a person's risk of developing colorectal cancer drops by about 13 percent.

Some of the best food-based sources of natural magnesium include chlorophyll, seaweed, raw cacao, coriander leaf, dried pumpkin seeds, and almond butter. The Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University (OSU) has provided a helpful writeup on its website that includes a list of foods with high levels of natural magnesium: http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/minerals/magnesium/

Cooking with Turmeric

Many people are discovering that turmeric is one of the best and most powerful anti inflammatory products available. It is also a powerful natural cancer fighter.

Why is this important? Heart disease and cancer are the two big killers, taking millions of people before their time. Heart disease ruins the life of men and kills many of them, often without warning. Women have some protection until menopause, but after menopause, the women's rate equals that of men.

Cardiologist Dr. Stephen Sinatra in his book Reversing Heart Disease Now comes right out and says--when it comes to heart disease, think inflammation, not cholesterol.

There are many substances that help the body to fight and better yet prevent inflammation, but there is none better than curcumin an ingredient in turmeric.

Another thing, many people, more and more now--there are reasons I don't have time to discuss now--are getting Alzheimer's Disease. Here is something that most people don't know--women have a much higher rate of death from Altzeimers than men do.

So it is in every one's interest to try to prevent this horrible disease. And guess what? Turmeric is one of the best things you can take to help prevent Alzheimers.

Finally, the C word that no one wants to think about Cancer. It used to be that one in four people will get cancer. Now it is one in three and soon one in two people will get cancer.

Turmeric contains curcumin, which has been found to be very a very potent weapon and preventative against cancer.

Dr. Bharat Aggarwal has been doing cutting edge research on the use of curcumen at the MD

Anderson Cancer Clinic.

So, like I was saying, people are waking up to the benefits of turmeric. But many people want to know how to cook with turmeric. I personally like the taste and just sprinkle it on avocado or rice.  As for cooking, here is the link to a fun and informative article about cooking with turmeric. The author states that turmeric blends well with other spices such as nutmeg, pepper and ginger.

Turmeric goes well with pumpkin too.

Here is the link to an article about cooking with turmeric

Here are a couple of advanced tips.

Have a little oil, like avocado, chicken, fish or olive oil with the turmeric. Also adding a little ground black pepper helps release the active ingredients in the turmeric. Here is a link

Things They Don't Tell You - Vitamin C

By now, most American know that we are supposed to eat more vegetables and fruit. People have heard that Vitamin C is also good for getting rid of and preventing colds and flu.   So they take some ridiculously small amount of vitamin c, like 50 milligrams or 100 milligrams.

But few people know the full story. I can't tell you the full story. I don't have time. If you are serious about health for yourself and your family, you will do some research yourself. Here is a hint. Don't bother looking at the Recommended Daily Allowance put out by the government-corporate matrix.

Like I said, I can't tell you the full story, but I can give you a couple of clues.

First clue. Why don't cats and other animals need extra vitamin C?  The answer is they make their own. That's right, they make their own. Most animals actually manufacture huge amounts of vitamin C in their own body.

The animals that are not capable of making their own vitamin C are mainly humans, apes, and Guinea pigs.

" Most animals make their own vitamin C. Some mammals cannot. Those that cannot include the main suborder of primates, the Haplorrhini: tarsiers, monkeys and apes, including human beings. Others are bats, capybaras and guinea pigs."

Clue two. Dr. Whittaker in his book reversing heart disease cites a study that showed that people with gum disease had a much higher rate of heart disease. And what is the number one cause of gum disease--a lack of vitamin C.

The lack of vitamin C makes the gums weak and easily bleed. Bleeding gums when a person brushes their teeth is the first sign of a serious vitamin C deficiency. Sailors used to bleed all over and get very sick, until the British government discovered that eating lemons or limes prevented scurvy.

Clue three. When our bodies are under stress or when our bodies are sick, our bodies need huge amounts of vitamin C.

Clue Number 4. Dr. Linus Pauling is the scientist and doctor who did the seminal work on the importance of Vitamin C. Look up what he had to say. He won a Nobel Prize.

I believe that 1000 milligrams a day of vitamin C is the bare minimum. When under stress we need more. 2000 or 3000.

You can't get enough for optimal health from justr fruit and vegetables. You might get enough to get by, but sooner or later the low levels, which are used up under stress, will result in some sort of physical breakdown.

Care about your arteries veins and capillaries?  You definitely want to make sure you get plenty of vitamin C.

Dr. Linus Pauling and others feel that vitamin C in huge amounts, taken intravenously, might permit a person to recover from severe infections, and even cancer.

The only thing that too much vitamin C (many thousands of milligrams a day) might do is loosen ones stool. So to find out just how much a person can tolerate, all they have to keep increasing the vitamin C until they get loose stool and then back off a little.

I prefer pure vitamin C powder, but tablets are okay. I put the powder in fruit juice or water. There are different types of vitamin C, there is also non GMO vitamin C.

Right now I would not worry about whether the vitamin C is synthetic or not. The main thing is to start taking enough.

The number one thing a person can do, as far as vitamins goes, is make sure they are getting at least 1000 milligrams of vitamin C a day. 2000 or 3000 if under some stress. More if ill.
